The Forum Wins!

October 29, 2010

The Forum has been awarded first prize in the “electronic journal” category and third prize in the “print” category of the 2010 Gerald D. Nash Journal Award contest.  As Dr. Graydon A. Tunstall, the Executive Director of Phi Alpha Theta, remarked, “the Alpha-Nu-Gamma chapter at California Polytechnic State University stands as an example to the more than 870 chapters of Phi Alpha Theta.”

The Forum sends a big “thank you” and “congratulations” to last year’s executive editors, editorial board, contributors, and Dr. Trice.  Hopefully this year the journal will take first prize in both categories!

Keep the submissions coming!  There are only 25 days left in this submission period!

Fall Submission Period Open!

October 29, 2010

We are pleased to announce that The Forum is once again accepting submissions for its 2011 publication. The current submission period will close on November 23, 2010, at 11:59 p.m. If selected by the editorial board, your paper will not only appear in our annual printed journal, but will also be available online via Cal Poly Digital Commons.  Furthermore, The Forum’s new executive editors, graduate student Justin McCollum and undergraduate student Joycelyn Cheung, are campaigning to increase the journal’s already-impressive reputation by boosting its readership and broadening the population of its contributors.

Yes, you can have your essay published! This is a great opportunity that allows you to showcase your individual ability while also bringing recognition to Cal Poly. We accept papers and book reviews from students at all levels of study, so whether you are a wide-eyed freshman or a thesis-consumed graduate student, you are eligible! Moreover, we accept papers from all disciplines so long as they are historical in nature. (Possibilities include political science, ethnic studies, and philosophy.)

For information on how to have your paper considered for publication, please refer to the submission instructions found under the “Requirements, Procedures, and Forms” link on this website.
